About Me!

I’m Katrin Wong 黄宇靖, a game producer, designer, and visual creator studying Game Development and Interactive Design at the University of Southern California.
I grew up in Beijing and Hong Kong before moving to Los Angeles for college, so I’ve spent a lot of my life moving between different cultures, communities, and ways of thinking. I speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese (I'm still learning)!
At USC, I’ve worked across production, game design, usability research, marketing, video editing, and visual art. I like being involved in different parts of development because it helps me better understand the people I work with and how all of those pieces eventually become one experience. But more than anything, I really enjoy watching things come together!!

Why Production?
I didn’t start college knowing with complete certainty that I wanted to become a producer. Since coming to USC, I’ve met so many classmates who are incredibly good at what they do. Sometimes I’ll watch someone solve a complicated programming problem, create a beautiful environment, design a puzzle I never would have thought of, compose music, or completely transform an idea through their art, and I’m genuinely amazed.
The more people I met, the more I realized that one of my favorite parts of making games wasn’t necessarily being the person who created every individual piece.
It was helping all of those pieces come together. I love seeing an early idea slowly become a design document, then a prototype, then something playable, and eventually something that a player can experience. I enjoy understanding what everyone is working on, finding connections between disciplines, solving problems before they grow, and helping people get what they need to do their best work.
